Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I rent anything?

A: Yes, R4K will rent you any home appliance or home furniture product.

Q: What if I don’t have a job?

A: R4K will try to help you as long as you have an alternative source of income.

Q: Do you do credit checks? 

A: R4K will assess all credit histories as we are required to do.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: R4K will customize each rent-to-own agreement to suit your personal and specific needs and circumstances. Please remember though, that R4K will never rent you a product if it believes you cannot afford it given your individual circumstances.

Q: What if the rented product breaks down?

A: R4K products are covered by manufacturers and extended warranties where necessary for at least the term of the R4K rent-to-own agreement.

Q: Can I keep the item at the end of the rent-to-own term?

A: The agreement is hire-purchase. The product remains the property of R4K for the term of the agreement once it is paid in full, we then release our interest in the product at this time. 

R4K Optional Damage Liability Waiver (DLW)


Q: Why would I want to take out DLW?

A: If you don’t have contents insurance you could be liable to continue your payments under your agreement in the event of flood, fire, earthquake, theft or should you become deceased. Optional DLW is a product that waivers all your uncharged payments if your product is destroyed or lost through fire, flood, earthquake, theft or burglary as well as if deceased.

Q: What if I already have house contents insurance?

A: Optional DLW is not suitable for borrowers with current contents insurance cover.

Q: Is there excess to pay like other insurance?

A: No, there is no excess to pay under DLW

Q. Am I covered if I damage the product?

A: DLW does not cover intentional or accidental damage. 

Q: Is DLW available for all my rental products?

A: No, DLW is not available for phones, laptops or gaming

R4K Optional Service Plus (OSP)

Q: What is OSP?

A: Providing the goods are in working order and condition, after 6 months you can: 

1. Upgrade/downgrade – you will be allowed to end your original agreement early without penalty if you take up a new agreement, subject to a new serviceability/credit check for an upgraded or downgraded item. Limit of 1 upgrade allowed.

2. Voluntary return (You can then pick up where you left in terms of your payments made and receive a “similar” item in age/dimension and features, should you wish to return to your agreement at a later stage, within 12 months of commenced voluntary return date).

*OSP is NOT available on whitegoods and furniture
